The West African crocodile is also known as the desert crocodile. It typically reaches up to 9.8 feet - with a few reaching an impressive 13 feet. Its distinguishing features are its olive body and broad snout with larger scales. These types of crocodiles thrive in rivers, mountain rock pools, and seasonal floodplains of West Africa. As dry seasons hit, it finds shelter between rock boulders or excavated burrows.
