The Influence of Disney Fairytales

The Influence of Disney Fairytales
Monika · 9 months ago
Disney is a cornerstone of the American childhood. Even for someone like myself who was raised in an environment where most Disney movies were banned because of the witchcraft, sorcery, or overt references to Satan (The cat in Cinderella is named Lucifer, for example), I was still influenced via friends or the occasional contraband storybook found in a dentist’s or doctor’s waiting room that I would sneak into a corner or playhouse and read. I didn’t see most Disney movies until I was a babysitting teenager. To this day I have never seen Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs or 101 Dalmatians, yet I could tell you the stories and even sing nearly all the songs. With such a pervasive influence, it was impossible to escape the clutch of Disney.

Creating Fantasy Characters
Monika · 9 months ago
I have written about character building before, but this time, I want to have a particular focus on character building for the fantasy genre. My books are more than often, character driven and art of characterisation can be powerful, turning plots into amazing and awesome stories.

Road Trip: Driving the Fairytale Road in Germany
Manik · 9 months ago
We took a road trip from our apartment in Baumholder along Germany’s Fairytale Road. Germany is where the Brothers Grimm wrote famous tales like Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White, Cinderella, Rapunzel, and Sleeping Beauty. There are so many amazing road trips in Germany, but this one allows you to relive those childhood stories. It’s also one of the prettiest drives in the country. The route offers beautiful views and a deep dive into the Brothers Grimm’s tales. Be ready for an experience that might surprise you.

I just love these colors. The photographer, William Dalton, did a superb job in matching the subtle colors of the flower and background to the bird. Now if we just knew the name of this beautiful bird we be completely happy! OK, somebody, tell us who he is…

Captivating Fairy on Blooming Flower
DinRat · 9 months ago
A visual scene of a tiny, magical fairy, sparkling with a mystical aura. The fairy is of Middle Eastern descent with long, luxurious dark hair that contrast with a pair of iridescent wings fluttering softly. She is wearing a dress made from petals and leaves, radiating an array of rich, vibrant colors that reflect the enchanting fairyland. She is seated delicately on a large, blooming flower, possibly a sunflower or a lily, with tiny dewdrops shining like diamonds onto its velvety petals. The fairy is reaching out to one of these dewdrops with curiosity and delight. The setting is a soothing, early morning, with the sun casting a warm, golden light passing through quickly dancing leaves.

The illegal pet trade resulted in an unregulated invasion
DinRat · 8 months ago
The illegal pet trade has a devastating impact on the ecosystem. One of its consequences has been the unregulated spread of the red rat snake beyond its native habitats in North America, enabling it to establish new colonies in different regions.

In Australia, the corn snake is listed as an invasive species. The species appears to thrive despite capturing 79 of them between 2002 and 20141.
The Indian Rhino is a great swimmer
Dersalon · 8 months ago
You read that right. The Indian Rhino is semi-aquatic and a gifted swimmer. They thrive in habitats near water sources, such as marshlands, grasslands, and alluvial floodplain forests. The Indian Rhino uses water as a defense mechanism to escape potential threats. Swimming also allows them to move between different areas and access abundant vegetation, including aquatic plants, reeds, and grasses growing near the water.

The Impressionist Nature Landscape with Azure River and Majestic Mountains
TimePass · 9 months ago
An impressionist style landscape showcasing the simplicity and beauty of nature. A sparkling azure river wends its way through the lush green meadow, reflecting the bright, clear sky. Tall, robust trees with autumnal hues spread their branches towards the sky, their colorful leaves dancing in the gentle breeze. Beautiful wildflowers of different shades add splashes of color to the scene. In the background, majestic mountains stretch towards the sky, their snow-capped peaks gleaming under the sun's radiant glow. The sun sets with a flourish, casting long, enthralling shadows and painting the horizon in hues of orange and pink.

The Importance of Mosques, Mecca, and Medina for Muslims
Bongsong · 10 months ago
If you ever need help remembering the sacred spaces for Muslims, just think of the three Ms: mosques, Mecca, and Medina.
The most common Islamic holy site is their place of worship: the mosque. Muslims are required to pray five times a day, and though Muslims can pray anywhere, dedicated Muslims strive to participate in the prayer time inside the mosque. Every Friday, Muslims meet at the mosque for special prayer and teaching from the imam, the local Islamic leader of the mosque. Most mosques have classes on the Qur’an, the Muslim holy book, for children and new converts to the Islamic faith.
Muslims consider every mosque a holy place. There are two mosques, however, that, due to the history of their geographical locations, are the most significant: the Al-Haram Mosque in Mecca and the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina. Understanding these two mosques and the cities that host them can help Christians gain a better understanding of the Islamic faith and know how to reach out to Muslims with the gospel.
