Blue sky clouds

Blue sky clouds

Summer skies in Ontario can prove to be very dramatic. NW winds off of Lake Huron, especially when drier air is coming in, sets the stage for moments like this. Using my Canon M6 Markll with the CANON EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM lens, allows me to frame the sky off my 15th floor balcony with precision.

Blue Puya (Puya berteronian)
Trishna · 6 months ago
Blue flowers are rare in their own right. Add in the blue puya flower’s large size and trumpet-like shape, and you’ve got yourself a stunning specimen. The blue puya is a type of terrestrial bromeliad that’s related to the common pineapple. However, these plants are much more rare than the common fruit. If you want to see a blue puya, your best bet is to head to their native habitat in Chile.

Agapanthus 'Blue Storm' (Lily of the Nile)
Information · 7 months ago
Plant these en masse for maximum impact. The flowers are more much numerous but much less tall (to 4ft max) than in the huge and better known Agapanthus africanus. Drifts of them work wonders. The clue's in the name - it's an enormous amount of blue. It's also hardier than Agapanthus africanus but dies down in the winter. Flowers for several weeks during mid-summer.

Best in sun in any reasonably well drained soil.

A comparative comment on Agapanthuses : The big one (Agapanthus africanus) and the little ones (Agapanthus 'Blue Storm' and 'Snow Storm') cannot really be compared. It's tempting because they're both Agapanthuses and they both have green strappy leaves and either blue or white flowers but the big one stands alone and are so big that they can be used almost like topiary - a pair in pots either side of an entrance for example. There's no reason why you couldn't do the same with the smaller ones but the smaller ones really lend themselves to being planted in drifts - blue or white rivers wending their way through the garden. The point is, one's not comparing like with like.
Blue Sea Slugs (Glaucus atlanticus)
Ebook · 8 months ago
Blue Sea Slugs are shell-less gastropods with the unique ability to float upside down. Surface tension allows them to be guided by wind and ocean currents.

These unique types of mollusks are silvery grey on the top side, while the underbelly carries dark and pale blue hues. Their bodies exhibit dark blue stripes and six finger-like projections called cerata. This form of countershading camouflaged them from would-be attackers.

Despite their average size of 1.2 inches, it's critical to understand these critters are more dangerous than they appear. The tips of their cerata are full of venom from their cnidarian-rich diet. Touching them can induce painful stings, causing symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and allergic reactions.
Blue Ground Dove (Claravis pretiosa)
Ebook · 8 months ago
The Blue Ground Dove is a bird species in Central and South America. Males have a blue coat, while females have a grey-brown dress. They have a white line outlining their wings, which is a marvel.

This type of dove can be found in lowland forests, secondary forests, and plantations. They also inhabit human spaces such as city parks and gardens. They are monogamous and forage in pairs.

Wetlands are areas that are totally or partially covered with water. They are transitional between permanently flooded deep water areas and areas with their water tables near the surface. Sometimes, shallow water covers the surface of the land. Examples of wetlands are:

brackish marsh,
fresh marshes,
salt marshes,
swamps,
wet prairies,
bogs,
forested wetlands,
and vernal pools.
You can also refer to wetlands as areas with dominant natural water saturation levels, determining the soil development processes and the plants and animals inhabiting them. The covering of water in some wetlands could be permanent or seasonal.
