Summer skies in Ontario can prove to be very dramatic. NW winds off of Lake Huron, especially when drier air is coming in, sets the stage for moments like this. Using my Canon M6 Markll with the CANON EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM lens, allows me to frame the sky off my 15th floor balcony with precision.

Citronella grass

Citronella grass is a perennial grass native to the tropical areas of Asia. Farmers grow it commercially in Sri Lanka, Java, India, Indonesia, and Burma to produce candles, soaps, and insect repellents.

Grasshopper (Caelifera)

Grasshoppers, ancient herbivorous insects, originated nearly 250 million years ago alongside crickets during the early Triassic.

Grasshoppers usually are green or brown. But people have spotted pink meadow grasshoppers in many parts of the world4. These cute bugs are affected by a genetic condition called erythrism. This condition means they overproduce red pigment and very little green or drown.

The bright pink color may be why predators easily pick off the tiny grasshoppers. You will most likely find these cute bugs in the non-arid grasslands of the UK and Asia.

Leaf-Eared Grass Opossum Pokémon

An initial grass-type Pokémon based on an opossum, with vibrant green fur, round black eyes and a leaf-shaped tail. Its ears resemble budding leaves and on its back, it has a pattern that mimics the veins of a leaf. Its claws are a darker tint of green and are used for digging and battling.
