As a college student, your number one priority is to learn. What you need to realize early on in your college career is that your learning is not, and should not, only be located in the classroom. Learn from every experience! Better yet, learn from the successes and failures of others. To do that, you have to be intentional with your experience...and actually have learning experiences.
"What the Best College Students Do," a book by historian and educator Ken Bain, draws a road map for how students can get the most out of college, no matter where they go
Each different post type on Instagram has different benefits and advantages in the algorithms that help you generate engagement, deepen your relationship with your audience, or expand your reach. And yes - I did say algorithms, plural. During Instagram's Creators Week, we got a bit of an insight into how all of these different formats play together and how the app determines what our followers see and don't see. According to Instagram themselves, there are multiple different algorithms for the different formats of content - feed, IGTV, Reels, etc - and so understanding that these different pieces are treated and distributed differently, and therefore play different roles is essential to building a cohesive strategy.
These different post types also play different roles in the lifecycle of a new follower - or the funnel, you could say, of how new people find you and get to know you on Instagram. And I want to share that framework with you as well in this episode because I think it will be helpful for you to understand how all of these different types of content play a role in someone new getting to know you, and your follower's journey overall. It's really similar to making a new friend because ultimately I believe that growing your presence on Instagram, at least in the beginning, should be about building relationships and growing friendships.
Over the years since it's release in 2010, Instagram continues to get more and more complex all the time with different ways to post and browse content on the app. This leaves a lot of content creators, especially beginners, confused about which kind of content to create, when, and why. From feed posts, to Reels, to stories, and IGTV - there are so many ways to reach your audience on Instagram, and each of these different formats have advantages and disadvantages for how they generate reach, engagement, and convert followers into true fans. In this blog post, I'm going to give you the ultimate guide to all of the 5 main types of Instagram posts, what their benefits and disadvantages are, and how they should fit into your content strategy for growth!
Since the platform debuted Reels in August 2020, theyβve become a dominant force in social media. Creating reels is one of the best ways to get in front of non-followers. In fact, the spring 2024 Instagram algorithm update is built specifically to recommend reels to your followers and non-followers at the same time. So Reels are clearly the best type of content on Instagram, right?
It's not that simple.
Let's start by getting the terminology straight. There are three major types of content you can publish on Instagram:
Reels - any type of video published to Instagram
Images - still images and photographs
Stories - a series of images and/or videos that are available for only 24 hours
Technically, all of these count as "posts," but they are all governed by different Instagram algorithms. Stories live in a different part of the app, so we won't be focusing on them in this article. Reels also have a separate feed in the app, but both images and Reels can be published to your grid and can show up in your followers' feed.
Since Instagram started as a photo-sharing app, the word "posts" or the phrase "in-feed posts" typically refers to a photo or image post. Standard video posts also used to be a thing, but now all videos published on Instagram are considered Reels.
While Reels can expand your brand's reach, image posts are still a viable way to connect with your audience. To nail a successful Instagram strategy you can't just choose one or the other. But when you're deciding which format to prioritize, several factors come into play, including your social media goals, your audience's preferences, and the resources you have available.
In this article, we're going to look at the difference between Instagram Reels and Instagram image posts (aka "in-feed posts"). Weβll talk about the advantages of each and how to balance posting Reels and photos to your grid and followers' feed.
What is an Instagram post?
Technically everything that you publish to your grid and that shows up in your followers' feeds is considered an Instagram post. Both Reels and image posts fall into this category. There used to be more of a distinction between Reels and standard video posts. However, Instagram has deprecated standard video posts into Reels.
Have you deleted any of the posts, stories, or reels by mistake? Now you could not find it or restore it back. Don't scratch your head; it is possible to recover deleted content on Instagram, but it can be a distressing experience.
As the Facebook audience continues to grow and the average news feed gets more and more crowded, itβs gotten more challenging for small businesses to get attention on the social network. In the third quarter of 2022, there were 3 billion monthly active users on Facebook.
If youβre running a business page how do you get your share of visibility among those billions of users?
We have compiled tips in this article on how to get the most traction on Facebook for your small business. Check them out by reading further.
The Indian subcontinent harbours huge genetic diversity. Researchers found that the earliest populations were hunter-gatherers who arrived from Africa more than 50,000 years ago. Further waves of settlement came from the direction of Iran, after the last Ice Age ended 10-20,000 years ago.
