They are known as the lesser pearl-bordered fritillary in Europe and the silver-bordered fritillary in North America. These butterflies are a species of Nymphalidae family. They are found throughout Europe and North America. Members of this species prey on a wide variety of birds and other insects, which are small in size and therefore are eaten by them.

Whether you have a small yard or even just a petite patio space, it's possible to still grow trees to add depth, color, and interest. Love the look of stately birch and magnolia trees but don't have the space to plant full-size versions? Try a dwarf version instead. You'll get the same aesthetic look you're after but in a smaller, more manageable size. And in some cases, dwarf trees can even be grown in containers, making them a unique choice for your patio or deck. Ahead, we spoke to gardening experts for their recommendations for dwarf trees for small spaces.
There are many reasons why someone would want to remove a tree or shrub from their landscape. "The most common reason is because of a pest or disease infestation," says Patrick Joyce, nursery manager at Longwood Gardens. "This is necessary to not only maintain aesthetics, but to prevent spreading to other plants."
Whoever said big things come in small packages must have been talking about their home’s landscaping. Regardless of your yard’s size, it’s easy to assume your garden needs an oversized tree or large patch of vibrant flowers to stand out. But in reality? Tiny touches like small shrubs can totally transform a yard or garden. “They are perfect for compact spaces where larger shrubs wouldn't fit, allowing gardeners to include a diverse array of colors and textures even in limited areas,” says Sam Niemann, founder of San Diego-based landscaping firm Grown by Design. “As gardens increasingly trend toward smaller sizes, these shrubs offer a versatile solution for creating visual interest and variety,” says Niemann.

The Tilia genus contains species that mainly differ in the size of their leaves. The common linden is actually a natural hybrid of the large-leaved and small-leaved linden, and it is a perfect middle ground of the two. An elegant species of linden tree, with much smaller leaves. With only one third the size of a regular linden leaf, it gives this tree a very fine appearance, in contrast to the bold character of common linden.
The twigs were captured from an old specimen in mid summer. The flowers have finished blossoming, and have folded up to turn into fruit. Clusters of fruit attach to an intense yellow-green leaf that acts to carry the seeds along in the wind. Their color is a striking contrast to the dark green of the regular leaves, something that is very visible even from far away.
