Wood is often an acceptable alternative to highly polluting materials like iron ore and cement. The material is renewable, recyclable, and energy efficient. It also allows for faster and cheaper construction.

Green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas)
Nachima · 8 months ago
Green sea turtles have many other names like a black sea turtle, pacific green turtle, and simply green turtle. They have the name green turtle because of the green fat underneath their carapace1 (shells). They inhabit the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans.

Adult green turtles grow up to 5ft long and weigh an average of 190kg. However, some green turtles can weigh up to 395kg. Green sea turtles’ physical attributes include their short snout and unhooked beak. Also, their carapaces have different colors that change from time to time.
Eating Goat Green Grass
Ashik · 8 months ago
Niman Ranch founder Bill Niman became famous—and built a fortune—from selling beef, but in the years since, he’s fallen for another ruminant. Goats, he argues, can improve rangeland quality for other farm animals. And, when they're raised in the right conditions, Niman thinks they’re delicious. “If we were more attuned to nature and where our food came from, we would probably celebrate goat meat more,” he said.

Leafy greens
Ekpolok · 8 months ago
Vegetables like cabbages, Brussels sprouts, and cauliflower have less environmental footprint than animal products like eggs. Leafy greens like spinach and kale are also great for the planet and you.

Experts consider them one of the most sustainable foods on the market. These vegetables also require less resources to produce large quantities, making them good for the planet.
Green Spaces
Ekpolok · 8 months ago
While the previous example of sustainable development focuses on structure, green space is about open spaces in urban areas., such as foliage-filled public parks and recreation areas.

Data says more than two-thirds of the world's population will live in cities2. It will be crowded with buildings and infrastructures to support the people, and nature needs more space to grow and thrive.

We can improve air quality by having more green spaces full of trees. Aside from producing oxygen, trees regulate rainwater by filtering out pollutants.

Addressing the urban island heat effect is also vital. This phenomenon refers to the trapped heat generated by human activities, specifically roads and other concrete structures. By adding green rooftops, people can save the energy used for cooling.

Green spaces in urban regions could be parks, community gardens, or rooftop gardens. These spaces help us control insects and improve biodiversity. They will also enhance the quality of living.

Leafy greens
Shalgara · 8 months ago
One of the most sustainable foods we consume is leafy greens. Leafy greens are vegetables we consume often because it is one of the best environmentally friendly foods with lots of nutrients. There are different types of leafy vegetables.

They are lettuce, spinach, kale, cabbage, and Bok Choy. Other leafy vegetables include broccoli, watercress, arugula, radicchio, and microgreens. Leafy greens are rich in Vitamins A, C, E, and K. Vegetables like broccoli, bok choy, and mustard contain B vitamins and potassium. Leafy vegetables are rich in carotenoids and antioxidants that protect the cells and block cancer cells in their early stages. They also have high quantities of fiber, iron, magnesium, and calcium.

Leafy vegetables are the most sought-after food in the food system because they have low quantities of carbohydrates, sodium, and cholesterol. Consuming these vegetables protects human health from heart disease, stroke, and cancer. The high levels of B vitamins improve your heart health and prevent certain congenital disabilities.

Osteoporosis is a bone disease that occurs when bone mineral density and mass are reduced. It also refers to the change in the structure and strength of the bone. Vitamin K helps protect the bones in the body from osteoporosis and prevents the occurrence of inflammatory diseases.

The fresh produce helps reduce bloating and relieve stress. Consuming any of the leafy vegetables supports your gut health and immune system. These are sustainable foods to include in your diet to ensure you're eating sustainably. Green vegetables are a staple in vegan diets.
Green Gold Avocado

Another Hawaiian cultivar. Also a late season in Hawaii. I hope it will be late here as well. There is more information on this cultivar. It was develop by the University of Hawaii. You can read the release document for the University of Hawaai. A Sharwil seedling of better quality. Has a lot of attributes. Good quality, small seed and heavy bearer. Who can ask for more. Lets hope it likes it here. More good information, in another document from the University of Hawaii, reporting over 20% oil. Probably growing in the higher elevations of Hawaii. Well we'll grow it at 10 ft elevation to see what it does.
From the PlantitHawaii.com:
"A cultivar developed by the UH, considered by many to be superior to the Sharwil. Has a long and heavy bearing season (January-April, or longer). Medium size, pear-shaped fruit with a small seed, high oil content, and a rough green-gold skin. Type A.

Well that is the period February-April I'm looking for. I have a small tree and I'm pushing it to get bud wood to top work a tree at my highest elevation 11 ft.
October 8, 2013: My little Green Gold tree is small and the branches are thin. Reminds me of a Malama. I'm sure I will get bud wood to top work a tree in a couple of months.
December 26, 2013: A tree has been top worked.
February 14, 2014: Most grafts are growing well. Looks good. Now we only need to wait about 24-30 months.
February 26, 2015: The tree is doing well. has enough canopy to flower and set fruit. Seems a few weeks away from flowering. Good sign for an expected late variety.
March 22, 2015: Seems like the tree decided to grow more vegetation and there are just a couple of flowers. Is typical, we'll see lots of flowers next year.
January 16, 2017: The tree did set some fruit. Not a lot of it, I was disappointed. The fruit ranges between 11-16 oz I did get to taste if a couple of times so far. It has a hard skin so you need to open two days or so before you think is ready, or insert a thin knife to see if it is soft. It is really good, my wife loved it (and she is hard to please) Better than a store bought Hass by far. Great quality at this time of the year. Small seed. I don't think they get past the end of this month as I saw some on the ground.
Now the reality. Did not produced a lot of fruit. Some trees have a juvenile period It may need another year, Did get some disease, as the pictures show. Will probably do better in an isolated back yard. One to watch because of the quality.
July 11, 2017: This tree set more fruit than last year but on the low side. For a Homeowner sufficient, specially if the flavor continues or improves with the size of the tree. So far fruit is clean and growing well. See today's pictures,
