The latter, Sylvilagus, includes 13 wild rabbit species, among them the seven types of cottontail. Wild rabbits not included in Oryctolagus and Sylvilagus include several species of limited distribution, including the pygmy rabbit, volcano rabbit, and Sumatran striped rabbit.
