Behavior and Habitat
1. *Herbivores*: Rhinoceros are herbivores and feed on grasses, leaves, and fruits.
2. *Solitary animals*: Adult rhinoceros are typically solitary, only coming together for mating.
3. *Excellent swimmers*: Rhinoceros are excellent swimmers and often cool off in rivers and lakes.

Reproduction and Lifespan
1. *Long gestation period*: Rhinoceros have a gestation period of 15-16 months, one of the longest among mammals.
2. *Single calf*: Female rhinoceros typically give birth to a single calf, which weighs around 40-60 kg (88-132 lbs) at birth.
3. *Long lifespan*: Rhinoceros can live up to 40-50 years in the wild.

Conservation Status
1. *Endangered species*: All five species of rhinoceros are listed as endangered or vulnerable on the IUCN Red List.
2. *Habitat loss and poaching*: Habitat loss and poaching are major threats to rhinoceros populations.
3. *Conservation efforts*: Conservation efforts, such as habitat protection and anti-poaching patrols, are underway to protect rhinoceros populations.

Interesting Facts
1. *Rhinoceros can run fast*: Despite their size, rhinoceros can run at speeds of up to 30-40 km/h (18-25 mph).
2. *Rhinoceros have a unique communication system*: Rhinoceros use a variety of sounds, including grunting, snorting, and trumpeting, to communicate with each other.
3. *Rhinoceros can live in a variety of habitats*: Rhinoceros can be found in grasslands, savannas, and forests in Africa and Asia.

    Odontode (Wikipedia)

Odontodes, or dermal teeth, are hard structures found on the external surfaces of animals or near internal openings. They consist of a soft pulp cavity surrounded by dentine and covered by a mineralised substance such as enamel, a structure similar to that of teeth.[1] They generally do not have the same function as teeth, and are not replaced the same way teeth are in most fish.[2] In some animals (notably catfish), the presence or size of odontodes can be used in determining the sex.[3]
