Natural Materials
Considering bringing the outside in as it pertains to your ceilings, Childress says. "Natural materials, especially stone and reclaimed wood, have long been favorites of mine for their grounding, organic qualities," she says, adding that incorporating these features on the ceiling will result in a warm, timeless environment. Joyner is partial to wood ceilings and foresees those growing in popularity next year. She explains how wood ceilings instantly bring warmth and richness to a space. "It’s a great way to lend some texture and interest to a room that is designed to feel more neutral as well," Joyner explains.
Tiled Ceilings
Laouari says that tiled ceilings will soon be taking the design world by storm. Laouari explains how tiling the ceiling is a common trick of the trade that's quickly gaining popularity, which is why it won't be long until it becomes a signature feature in homes everywhere.
Sculptural Plasterwork
Another classical option is sculptural plasterwork, which will add plenty of ornate detailing to any ceiling in the home and has been experiencing a resurgence in the design world, according to Childress. "These classic, hand-crafted elements introduce a level of artistry and depth that elevates the ceiling to be as stunning as the rest of the room," she says. "It’s a perfect nod to the past while embracing the present."
Wallpapering the ceiling
Wallpapering the ceiling has risen in popularity in recent years and will continue to remain in vogue in 2025, according to Joyner. The color and pattern you select is entirely up to you; go subtle or bold depending on your personal design style. In addition to looking chic, wallpapering the ceiling and then painting the remaining four walls of a room can be a budget-friendly design tactic, Joyner says, noting that many wallpaper prints are quite expensive. Jennifer Laouari, the co-founder of Morgan Madison Designs, likes to encompass an entire room in wallpaper when possible, even when square footage is lacking. "In smaller spaces like foyers, a bold wallpaper wrapping from walls to ceiling creates a fully immersive experience," she says. "No surface is left untouched, ensuring every angle feels considered."

Most Scenic City Cities At Night’ According To A New Report
Sightseeing isn’t just a daytime activity. After the sun goes down and the stars light up the sky, many cities around the world come alive with glittering lights, dancing fountains, and bustling markets. (Added bonus: Touring a city at night is a great way to beat some of the daytime heat!) To rank the world’s most scenic nighttime destinations, analysts at Travelbag, a company that arranges multi-destination trips, started with a seed list of 136 of the world’s most popular cities. The team used criteria such as Instagram hashtags, light and noise pollution levels, as well as safety of walking alone at night to determine which 10 cities ranked the most scenic at night. Worth noting: The top-ranking cities dominating this list are notable for their illuminated skylines and buildings, which does bring about light pollution. (If stargazing is more your speed, these designated dark sky resorts outside of city limits are great at turning down the lights so you can uninterrupted views of the night sky).
